Madeline Hutchins Madeline has worked in arts management for 26 years, starting at Battersea Arts Centre where she programmed drama and dance, moving to the Warehouse Theatre Croydon as Administrator, and then onto the Independent Theatre Council, becoming its Director. Madeline has worked as a freelance trainer, consultant and facilitator, specialising in learning and the legal and people aspects of arts management, often working with Boards of arts organisations. Madeline is core tutor on the MA and Certificate programmes in arts and cultural management at Sussex University. She is a tutor for ITC's short courses, and for Essentials in Arts Management. Madeline has a First Degree in English, training in arts management, and a Masters Degree in Management Development. She has written a short book on Copyright and a chapter of a Handbook for Arts Managers. She is regularly asked to write for magazines and speak at conferences.

Madeline is a Board member of All Ways Learning, promoting CPD for people managing the arts in the South East. She is involved in research on new models for small arts organisations, management models and arts in learning, and is passionate about building an infrastructure to support arts management learning - hence SAM's Books.
